BORN TO BE KING is the 6th installment of the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS series. The story follows Chicken, who marries the daughter of the leader of the Yamada gang. Rivalry develops because Chicken is considered an outsider to the gang and others feel they were passed over. Chicken is setup to be a scapegoat as a Taiwanese gang plots to control all other gangs that do not go along with them.

The picture quality is very good. The colors are vibrant and the DVD handles the night and day scenes very well. The opening credits show what appears to be scratches but this is intentional and not a flaw. The source print used doesn't show any specks or blemishes in the picture.

The sound is also very good. The dialogue is never overpowered by the sound effects or music. The surround sound is actually well done. The sound is also in perfect sync with the action on screen.

The subtitles do not intrude on the picture and are in sync with what is being said. They are easy to read and have very few spelling or grammatical errors.

To be honest, this is the first movie in the YOUNG AND DANGEROUS series that I had seen. I can say that although the movie stands somewhat on it's own merits, I would recommend seeing the movies in order. There's a subplot that doesn't add to the story and it slows the movie down unless you have seen Y&D 1-3. Having seen this movie first, I can honestly say it made me want to see the other YOUNG AND DANGEROUS movies. This isn't the best movie in the series but it's decent. The DVD quality is good and if you are a fan of the movie and the series, you will want this.
