Chow Yun-Fat is back as the God of Gamblers in this Action/Gambling/Comedy. He is drawn back into the underworld after a four year hiatus when a rival gambler kills his wife and unborn child. Of course, he wants swift revenge but his wife's dying wish is that he does not gamble or admit who he is for one year. After almost a year of waiting, while on a trip, Yun-Fat befriends a boss and his family. When the boss is betrayed, it is Yun-Fat who saves his son and vows to reunite him with his sister. After he reunites the two, the stage is set for him to face his rival and avenge his wife and child.

The actual transfer of this movie is great but unfortunately, the print that was used isn't. There are specks and scratch marks on the film that are sometimes very noticeable but not too distracting. I was surprised with how good the picture looked aside from the flaws in the source print. I wish some other DVD's looked this good.

The sound quality is also pretty good. It is Dolby 2.0 which is nice. I am really glad a bad remix wasn't done. The sound levels were done well. The picture is in sync with the sound through the whole movie. I had watched this with the Cantonese track.

The subtitles are burned in the picture and sometimes, though rarely, are off the screen. They are white and sometimes a little hard to read. They are always in sync with what is being said. There some minor spelling errors but nothing that keeps you from understanding what they are. The subtitles do not appear on the lower black bars so if you have a widescreen TV this one will be okay to watch.

The menu is extremely basic. The extras consist of a trailer for the movie. The trailer is great, though.

I really like this movie. There are some great action scenes and Chow Yun-Fat's character is just great to watch. This is not really for everyone because the comedy is sometimes very silly and at very odd times. I would recommend this one to anybody who is a Chow Yun-Fat fan and doesn't mind a little comedy mixed in amongst the bullets.
