MIDDLE MAN, IN THE LINE OF DUTY V, brings back Cynthia Khan as policewoman Madame Yuen. This time around, her U.S. Marine cousin, David is in town on leave. When David's friend Alan, is killed, it is learned that Alan is a traitor. The CIA accuses David of also being a traitor even though he is innocent. David and his girlfriend, May must go into hiding. David knows the only way to clear his name is to track down the head of the group who is selling the secrets, The General. With help from his cousin, Madame Yuen, they find themselves in Korea to bring The General to justice.
MIDDLE MAN is a little anti-climatic after watching IN THE LINE OF DUTY IV. It does have some great action scenes and Cynthia Khan, once again, is excellent. Her character really dishes it out despite all the abuse she takes. The plot is similar to ITLOD IV in that there is somebody wrongfully accused who needs Madame Yuen's help. MIDDLE MAN isn't a bad movie, I just expected more out of it.

The picture quality is a little above average. The film print is in relatively good shape. There is very little damage and few specks on it. The colors look a little undersaturated but overall not bad, most older films looks like this. The transfer itself is well done. There are some really dark night scenes and they look very good.
The audio is a 5.1 remix. I watched the movie with the Cantonese soundtrack. The back speakers where pretty active during this movie with mostly music and ambient sounds. Sometimes they seemed a little out of place. Overall the quality was good. The sound is also pretty much in sync with the action on the screen. There are times when the dialogue seems to be a little off but this would seem to be more of a dubbing issue than a defect.

The subtitles are easy to read and appear on the image of the film and not the bottom black bar. Sometimes they disappear a little too quickly. There are a number of spelling and grammatical errors. For the most part, these were decipherable and only became a distraction once or twice.
The extras consists of a Talent file for Cynthia Khan, a trailer, and a trailer for IN THE LINE OF DUTY IV.

On its own, ITLOD V : MIDDLE MAN is an average movie. If you are a Cynthia Khan fan, you will want to check it out. There are some great action scenes but the plot is just a little too familiar. If you haven't seen the movie, I would definitely recommend a rental first. As I mentioned before, after ITLOD IV, this just seemed to be a little lacking.
