The story of Ricky takes place in a prison in a time when prisons are run like corporations, for profit. When Ricky is incarcerated for avenging the death of his girlfriend, he discovers that the prison officials are corrupt and the prisoners are treated horribly. This is a classic movie and definitely not for the squeamish. The fights are somewhat short. This is mainly because when Ricky connects with an opponent, their limb/stomach/skull shatters or bursts open. There is even an x-ray shot of a skull being crushed.

The picture is very good. The image is very clear and the colors are also very good. The colors stand out because the prison is mostly white. The effects of the blood and amputations are amplified because most of the time the background is a light color. There are a few night scenes that hold up great without any sign of getting muddy or showing any pixelation. The original print shows some wear at times but over all the picture is great. This looks better than most other movies it's age.

The sound is also very good. The Cantonese track is in sync with the action. Most, if not all the sound comes from the front speakers. The movie defaults to an English dub that is surprisingly tolerable. The subtitles, are sometimes misspelled but understandable and not distracting.

There are some extras on this DVD. There is a synopsis of the movie and four trailers. I enjoyed the trailers a lot. The trailers included Duel to the Death, Heroes Shed No Tears, Last Hurrah for Chivalry, and Magnificent Butcher.

This DVD is a must if you are a fan of the movie. It appears to be the full uncut version and the quality is very good. If you haven't seen the movie and are considering getting it, just be warned that this is extremely graphic. I recommend this one.
