The TOUCH features Michelle Yeoh as the protector of the Sharira. The Sharira is said to contain the soul of a powerful holy man. Her family is from a long line of acrobats who were entrusted with this important duty by Monks. When a rich art collector tries to steal this treasure, Michelle must stop him at all costs.

Not much of a summary of the story this time because there really isn't much more to the plot. I was actually hesitant about writing this review because I had such high hopes for the movie and I ended up being very disappointed. I have read reviews that really bash this movie because of the acting and story. I won't do that because both of which aren't very different than a Jackie Chan movie. The difference is that Jackie's movies work more often than not. I'll just say that the movie looks rushed and unfinished. At least two scenes look like they never got the perfect take so they went with the best they had. The editing looks like it could have been tighter as there are scenes that just seem to have been finished 2 seconds before there is a cut. I also think that some sound looping could have really enhanced some of the performances in this movie. There are also times when two characters will be in the same scene and talk to each other like they aren't in the same room together. The finally also contains some CGI effects that are more akin to a computer game cut screen than a motion picture. All these things give the feeling that a little more time in post production would have made this a better movie. I'm not talking about a Miramax style edit here. The movie just looks more like a work print. Even the action scenes look almost clumsy as far as editing goes. Frames are dropped to make things look faster but it almost looks like a jump cut instead.

At least the picture quality is pretty good. The transfer is anamorphic and while isn't Hollywood quality, it is one of the better anamorphic imports. The black level is good and so are the colors. The print is in very good shape since it's a new movie so there are few if an specks and no film damage whatsoever. Overall, the picture is better than many imports.

The sound quality is also pretty good. There is a DTs option but my receiver is older so I use the 5.1 soundtrack. The mixing is pretty good as far as being able to hear the dialogue and music without anything being drowned out. The sound, like the picture, is better than many imports.

Since this movie was filmed in English, I didn't use the subtitles.

There are lots of extras such as a commentary, trailer, making of feature, promotional tour, and music video. These are nice to have but I recommend watching these before you watch the movie because you may not feel like it otherwise.

THE TOUCH is only recommended for die hard Michelle Yeoh fans. There isn't that much action and the fights just don't pack the wallop that they should. If you still want to see this movie, rent it instead of buying it.
